This journey takes you to the fjords of Northern Norway, one of the best places in the world to encounter orcas in the wild. During the winter months, large numbers of orcas and humpback whales gather here, following the herring as they move through the fjords.

Based on a small vessel, we spend our days on the water, observing and photographing these animals in their natural environment. There is also the opportunity to enter the water and experience the whales at eye level, with the chance to see the Northern Lights completing the Arctic experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Northern Norway (Tromsø)

Your journey begins in Tromsø, the gateway to Northern Norway, where we spend our first night together. We stay at a comfortable hotel (to be confirmed closer to departure), offering a place to settle in after your travels.

In the evening, we gather for dinner, which is included, giving you the opportunity to meet your guides and fellow travellers and to prepare for the days ahead on the water.

Day 2: Embarkation and First Day at Sea

After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer to our vessel, MV Fanny, where the next part of the journey begins. Once on board, we set sail towards the orca grounds, heading out into the fjords in search of these remarkable animals.

Day 2-8: Exploring the Fjords

Over the coming days, we explore the fjords of Northern Norway in search of whales, with a focus on orcas and humpbacks.

Time is spent on the water, observing and photographing wildlife, with opportunities to capture the Northern Lights when conditions allow.

Alongside photography from the boat, there is the opportunity to enter the water and snorkel with the whales. A unique way to experience these animals at eye level. For those interested, this also opens up the possibility of underwater photography.

*Please note that drysuits and snorkelling equipment are not included and need to be arranged and rented separately. We are happy to assist with organising this.

Day 8: Return to Tromsø

We return to Tromsø, where our time together comes to an end.

After days spent on the water, sharing encounters with whales and the Arctic landscape, we say our goodbyes before you continue your onward travel or begin your journey home.
