Your guide will meet you at the hotel in the morning and you’ll set off on the approximately fourhour drive to Bonito (259 km). A short stop along the way allows time to stretch your legs.

Bonito is known for its open landscapes, where Giant Anteaters roam freely and macaws are a familiar sight.

After arriving at Olho D’Água Lodge, you’ll check in and have time to freshen up. In the late afternoon, head out to explore the surrounding fields in search of Giant Anteaters.

Dinner will be in town, followed by an overnight stay at Olho D’Água Lodge.

After breakfast, you’ll head out to the Macaws Sinkhole (Buraco das Araras), one of the key sights in the region and a place that offers excellent photographic opportunities.

Lunch will be in town.

In the afternoon, you’ll explore the surrounding fields, focusing on Giant Anteaters and birdlife as opportunities arise.

Dinner will be at a restaurant in town, followed by a relaxed evening to rest ahead of the next day.

The day begins with a second visit to the Macaws Sinkhole, timed for the morning light and another opportunity to work photographic scenes.

Lunch will be served at Rio da Prata Estância. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a snorkeling experience in the Estância’s spring-fed river, known for its exceptionally clear water and rich aquatic life.

Dinner will be in town, followed by your final night in Bonito.

The day continues with your transfer to Campo Grande Airport, where you’ll catch your flight to Cuiabá, Mato Grosso.

You’ll spend the night at the Amazon Airport Hotel, where traditional Pantanal cuisine is served for dinner.

The journey into the heart of the Pantanal begins with a drive to Poconé, the gateway to the wetland and the last town before entering the world’s largest floodplain.

From here, the road leads deeper into the Pantanal, where you begin to immerse yourself in the landscape and get a first sense of what life in this vast wetland is about, with early chances to encounter wildlife along the way. The transfer to Porto Jofre takes approximately five hours in total.

After arriving at your riverside hotel (Santa Rosa) and enjoying lunch, you’ll board the boat directly at the lodge for your first jaguar excursion.

The Meeting of the Waters State Park lies in the heart of the Pantanal and is one of the region’s largest protected areas. Known for its high jaguar density and rich birdlife, it is an exceptional area for boat-based wildlife observation and photography. Days start early. After an early breakfast (timing can be adjusted with your guide), you’ll depart directly from the hotel by motorboat and explore the park’s rivers and tributaries. With abundant prey such as caiman and capybaras, this area offers some of the best chances to encounter jaguars, particularly during the dry season from June to November, when they are often seen along exposed riverbanks. Along the way, you may also encounter giant otters, caimans, capybaras, tapirs, monkeys, anacondas, and a wide variety of birds, including hyacinth macaws and toco toucans. Lunch is usually taken on the river to maximize time in the field and wildlife encounters. Regular stops are planned and can be adjusted as needed, including safe opportunities for bathroom breaks out in the nature.

After breakfast, you will pack up and begin the day with a final morning jaguar outing. From there, the journey continues by boat into a more remote part of the Pantanal, a transfer of around four hours that gradually shifts the focus to a different landscape and species. A picnic style lunch is enjoyed along the way. You will arrive at Pousada Mangueiral in the early afternoon and spend time exploring the surroundings, an area that also offers good chances to encounter tapirs. This marks your first opportunity to observe the maned wolf in the wild. The animals are entirely free ranging and are occasionally fed by the lodge owner as part of long term conservation oriented care that began during periods of food scarcity. This practice supports the animals rather than tourism. To allow observation and photography in low light conditions, fixed lights are installed near the lodge. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at Pousada Mangueiral.
